Highlights
  • March

Spring is in the air and so are the birds. The songs that greet you so early in the morning are probably males, trying to attract a mate.

Leave out bits of string, cotton wool for nests and keep those feeders full and baths clean with fresh water.

  • April

For Georgians, be prepared for the hummingbirds returning from Mexico. Make sure your feeders are clean and your sugar water mixture is fresh. I start in the spring with one part sugar to three parts water, decreasing in a few weeks to four parts water.

It's  amazing to me that a few hundred feet from the backyard exists so many different species of birds.  Birds that I never see out my window live so close and are consistently a source of beauty and amazement.

Animals

Lizards, squirrels, butterflies and dogs, animals that exist with the birds.  Some are food, some are predators, others, like me, just like to look.
